When the Winter Olympics and Paralympics are held in Italy in 2026, Norwegian textile industry is also represented. Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik in Lillehammer supplies wool textile made from 100% Norwegian wool for Alfa’s LUN shoe, used in winter footwear for the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic teams as well as officials during the Games.

The wool textile is produced at the factory in Lillehammer and forms part of a fully Norwegian value chain based on local raw materials and processing. Alfa has long traditions of developing footwear for Nordic conditions, with a strong focus on quality, functionality and durability. Careful material selection and high-level expertise are central to the development of their products.

Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik has produced wool textiles since 1887 and is today one of the few remaining textile manufacturers in Norway with a fully integrated wool production. The use of wool offers several sustainability benefits. Wool is a renewable and biodegradable raw material with natural properties such as insulation, temperature regulation and durability. Production at the Lillehammer factory is based on pure natural materials and long-term quality principles, with a focus on longevity and responsible use of resources.

That wool textiles produced in the Gudbrandsdal region are now being used in winter footwear for the Norwegian team during the Winter Olympics and Paralympics 2026 demonstrates how local collaboration, Norwegian wool and solid craftsmanship continue to play a natural role in modern quality products — even on the world’s largest winter stage. The shoes are also available to the public, both in stores and online.
